Homegrown Arts

UPDATE:

This site is no longer supported, and my name has changed slightly.  I have moved all artwork that is for sale online over to my website at   HomegrownArtworks.com.

Thank you for your interest! I’m still out there in Internet-land, and busier than ever. Click the link to visit the new site.

Homegrown Arts started in 1993, as I began to make more cool things than I wanted to keep around the house. I had always been a maker, but exploded with new ideas as my children began attending school.

I was still afraid to refer to myself as an “artist” then, because I had had numerous people point out to me that only people who paint and draw are “artists.” I was, because of the media in which I excelled, a “crafter.” I made sculptures with found wood and basketry materials. I spun and felted wool and made woven creations using wool I had raised and sheered from my own sheep. I made paper from plants in my garden.

Calling myself “Homegrown Arts” seemed to incorporate my back to basics methods with my aspiration to become a real artist someday. This website marks a turning point in my life. I am rejecting the idea that only painters and drawers can be true artists, and I am embracing my artistic vision to share with the world.

I hope you enjoy looking at my unique creations, and if you are inspired to buy one for yourself I’ll try to make that possible, too.

Thanks for visiting!
